The continuing success of Rovio creation Angry Birds seems to still be in full flight following the news that their latest edition, Angry Birds Space, has now had more than 50 million downloads since release.
The news was reported today by the Finnish based developers who pointed out that the game had only been on the open download market for 35 days, showing the huge amount of interest that the brand is still generating even after earlier add ons were produced that related to international holidays such as Christmas and Halloween.
The game developers were pleased to reveal that these latest figures have surpassed their original stats when their original version of the game was released, showing their excitement at the prospect that the game could be set to be bigger than the first title that they brought into the mobile gaming network.
With the breach of the 50 million downloads mark in just 35 days, the game has been confirmed as the fastest mobile gaming app to have reached that milestone, the previous title being the hugely popular DrawSomething that saw themselves being downloaded 50 million times in 50 days.
Thoughts were that the latest Angry Birds Space title were going to struggle in the market against such a dominant app but the figures that have been revealed have shown that there is still plenty of space for those Angry Birds in the everyday life of the public.
Rovio revealed that they were pleased with the uptake of the app and then continued to tease their fans with the promise of a new official release very soon, saying “something even bigger is on its way!”.
The news will be a new challenge to those mobile gaming apps that are looking to knock those Angry Birds off their perch, such as Temple Run and DrawSomething and with the news that Rovio are already working on something else, we could see further offerings within the market throughout the industry as developers look to lock horns with the Finland based firm.
