According to technology news sources, Apple are looking to make life easier for gamers that use their operating system with the rumoured development of a new controller that will be able to plug into any of their devices that are able to play gaming titles.
The news will be welcomed by many gamers that use the Mac to play games such as car games and platform titles as they will be instantly given more control over their movement during their gaming play, while at the moment their gaming experience consists of mouse movements and keyboard based commands.

I know of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to the market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen. As smartphones and tablets come close to equalling the performance of current game consoles, I feel like the controller problem must be addressed.
The rumours of an Apple based controller will mean that developments within the capabilities of gaming titles aimed at the operating system will be increased and therefore so will the gaming experience that players will be able to enjoy while gaming on the move or at home.
Although the prospect of the controller seems to have tech related forums buzzing and Apple users calling for the hardware to be placed into production, there is no confirmation that Apple are even considering the release of the controller and so the rumour at the moment should be treated with caution at the moment as there are no official statements that support the motion that a controller is even within their scope at this moment in time.
With the new Apple iPad already on the open market and the advancement of the Mac desktops and laptops, Apple seem to be winning a larger market share of computer/tablet and smartphone users that are looking to stray away from Windows based gamers.
