The creators of the popular Angry Birds series of games have revealed this week that they have now successful surpassed their own expectations and have recorded their one billionth download of their titles, a huge milestone for the Finnish developers Rovio.
The news was shared by the company during a news release that they issued to those that subscribe, pointing out that the figures show the complete number of downloads that the whole selection of games has seen across all mobile gaming platforms, so that includes the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio and their latest offering Angry Birds Space.
As a side benefit of the huge uptake in downloads of the games, Rovio have revealed year on year profits for their company after appearing to squeeze as much as they could out of the Angry Birds brand and it seems that they will continue to keep twisting as news of television series and movies have already been reported to be in the production stages with planned release dates in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
Due to the success that the company have seen with their Angry Birds titles, it looks like Rovio will now look to span out from their primary focus and offer more to their fans, while still promising to continue the work with Angry Birds, giving them a whole new definition once they are able to mastermind their next big offering.
According to business related news, Rovio is thought to be interested in making the company IPO by the year 2015 but they are undecided whether to place the company on the New York or Hong Kong market and a decision is thought to delayed as they weigh up the best possible option.
Rovio made no secret of their excitement surrounding the growth of the company and proudly revealed that the company made $106.3 million throughout the 2011 financial year, a figure that was ten times that of the year before.
